Early Life

Tendai Larry Chatara was born on February 28, 1991, in Chimanimani, Manicaland. He attended local schools in his hometown, where he showed little interest in academics. However, he displayed remarkable talent on the cricket field from an early age.

Cricket Career

Chatara’s professional journey began with his first-class debut for the Mountaineers in 2009. Despite his academic struggles, he quickly emerged as a standout pace bowler for Zimbabwe. His athletic prowess was evident beyond cricket, having also competed in 200 and 400-meter races for Manicaland.

In domestic cricket, Chatara consistently delivered impressive performances. His first-class debut against Mid-West Rhinos was particularly noteworthy, where he gave away only 25 runs in 7 overs, maintaining an economy rate of 3.57. Over 20 matches, he claimed 71 wickets, making a significant mark in List A and Twenty20 formats as well.

International Career

Chatara’s domestic achievements earned him a spot in Zimbabwe’s senior cricket team for a Twenty20 International series against India. He captured his first international wicket by dismissing Yusuf Pathan in his second T20I match.

Chatara also participated in the 2010 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup and was a part of Zimbabwe’s squad during the 2011 tri-nation series featuring Australia and South Africa A teams.
