Tatenda Annastacia Mavetera, born on May 26, 1986, is currently 38 years old as of 2024. Her initial claim to fame
was her role as ‘Tendai Jari’ in Studio 263, where she received the Best Actress award at the National Arts
Merit Awards in 2003. Transitioning from acting to hosting, she started the talk show ‘Timeout with Tatenda’
in 2005, addressing various societal issues. Despite its engaging content, the show concluded after just one
season. In 2013, Mavetera returned to acting, starring in the film ‘The Zimbabwe I Know.’

Personal Life

Originally from Gweru, Tatenda Mavetera is happily married to Edmore, and they share the joys of parenthood
with their two children, Dariene and Daniel.

Political Career

In 2018, Tatenda Mavetera entered the political arena, becoming the Member of Parliament for Seke-Chikomba
constituency at the age of 34, making her the youngest woman in the present Zimbabwean parliament. Beyond her
parliamentary role, she holds the position of Assistant Speaker and occasionally acts as Speaker of the
National Assembly in the absence of the designated speakers.

In 2008, Tatenda Mavetera faced legal proceedings over accusations of aiding her sister, Charlotte
Chivavarirwa, in the alleged kidnapping of a Harare woman. The charges arose from suspicions of an affair
between the victim and Chivavarirwa’s husband, triggered by the discovery of an incriminating SMS from the
victim’s phone.
