Sinikiwe Nikki Kademaunga, also known as Nikki Kademaunga Zhiva, is a remarkable individual hailing from Harare, Zimbabwe. Despite being born without fully developed limbs, she has emerged as a motivational speaker, beauty blogger, and digital creator, inspiring countless people worldwide. Her unwavering spirit and positive outlook on life have made her a beacon of hope for many.
Education and Academic Achievements
Sinikiwe’s journey began in Chitungwiza, Zimbabwe, where she was born without hands and knees. In a society where such conditions were once considered curses, her family initially struggled to accept her disability. After the passing of her parents at a young age, Sinikiwe was raised by her grandmother, who played a pivotal role in shaping her life. With her grandmother’s support, Sinikiwe learned self-reliance and developed a strong sense of determination.
She attended St. Faith’s Primary School, located conveniently near her home, where her grandmother’s teachings on self-sufficiency and independence propelled her academic excellence. Sinikiwe achieved impressive results in her Ordinary Level examinations, scoring three As, four Bs and one C. Her academic success continued into her Advanced Level examinations, where she obtained 10 points. This paved the way for her to pursue a degree in Social Work at the University of Cape Town in South Africa.
Husband, Children & Family
Sinikiwe Kademaunga is married to Reuben Zhiva from Gokwe, and their wedding was a testament to their deep love and determination. Despite societal misconceptions and doubts, Reuben has been a constant source of strength for Sinikiwe, proving that love transcends physical boundaries.
Their wedding was a unique and inclusive celebration. To exchange rings, they designed a necklace-shaped ring for Reuben to place around Sinikiwe’s neck, showcasing their creativity and innovation. Friends, family, and well-wishers attended the joyous occasion, showering the couple with love and support.
In June 2023, Sinikiwe and Reuben welcomed a beautiful baby boy, realizing their desire to start a family once they both completed their studies.
Advocacy & Blogging
Sinikiwe Kademaunga’s journey as a disability advocate and digital creator began with her blog, where she shares her experiences, challenges, and aspirations. Through her blog, she aims to shift societal mindsets and raise awareness about the realities faced by people with disabilities. Her efforts have not gone unnoticed, as she was honoured with a Courage Award by the Zimbabwe International Women’s Award for her impactful work.
