Prince Harry could be joining Meghan in Canada as early as next week amid mounting speculation the couple intend to settle there permanently. The duchess made a hasty return to the Commonwealth country after the couple’s bombshell announcement that they would quitting as senior royals. It is thought Harry is planning to leave the UK as early as next week after the Queen demanded a swift resolution to his decision to step back from official duties.
The prince has an official engagement at Buckingham Palace on Thursday and it is understood this may be his last for some time. It is understood that Meghan does not have a return flight booked back to London and has no official engagements for the ‘foreseeable future’. Signs suggest the couple may have already set up home in Canada before revealing their decision to leave royal life behind.
The couple made headlines around the world on Wednesday when they said they would be carving ‘new progressive roles’ within the monarchy. Their plans include becoming financially independent and splitting their time between the UK and North America. This was widely understood to mean Canada, where the pair have been spending a six week winter break. Harry, Meghan, Archie and their two dogs have been living in luxury £10.7m property on Vancouver Island since November. Royal insiders say that the dogs staying in Canada ‘was the biggest clue, in hindsight, that they were unlikely to come back from this so-called holiday’.
