What happened between Lindsay Nyajeka and Ethanim Guti?

On November 25, 2018, Lindsay Nyajeka and Ethanim Guti had a heated argument over the alleged affair at their home in Harare. Nyajeka pointed a gun at his wife and threatened to kill her. He then fired two shots into the ceiling before leaving the house and threatening to commit suicide. Ethanim Guti reported the incident to the police, who arrested Nyajeka and charged him with pointing a firearm at his wife.

Outcome of the court case

The court case was heard before Harare magistrate Obedience Matare on November 30, 2018. Nyajeka was represented by Jonathan Samukange, while the State was represented by Francesca Mukumbiri. The State asked for a postponement of the trial, citing that Ethanim Guti was ill and admitted to hospital. Nyajeka’s lawyer opposed the postponement, arguing that it was a ploy to manipulate the evidence. He said that Nyajeka had surrendered the gun to the church before the case was reported and that there was no proof that he pointed it at his wife. The court postponed the trial to December 14 for further proceedings.
