Dr. Millicent Sibongile Mombeshora is married to the seasoned Zanu-PF politician, Douglas Mombeshora.
With an extensive educational background, Mombeshora has earned both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Economics, Finance, Strategic Management, Marketing, and Business Management. Her academic pursuits took her to esteemed institutions in the United Kingdom, South Africa, and the USA.
Dr. Mombeshora’s career journey has traversed various sectors, encompassing both the private and public realms in Zimbabwe. Her expertise spans information, banking and bank supervision, agriculture, public administration, and management. She has chaired and served on the boards of several state-owned enterprises and parastatals.
Noteworthy roles include her tenure with the Zimbabwe Media Commission and the Prisons and Correctional Service Commission.
Dr. Mombeshora assumed the role of Commissioner of the Public Service Commission (PSC) on February 1, 2024, following her appointment by President Emmerson Mnangagwa. Prior to this, she held the position of Head of Strategic Planning and Special Projects in the Governor’s Office at the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ).
In 2008, she played a pivotal role in the Zanu-PF presidential election run-off, orchestrating the theme “If u believe and I believe, then all good things are possible” from the RBZ.
In 2013, Dr. Mombeshora turned down the Chief Executive Officer position at the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) after the forced leave of Happison Muchechetere.
Additionally, she contested for the Grain Marketing Board (GMB) General Manager position in 20XX alongside Mr. David Machingaidze, securing the highest scores during interviews. However, Rocky Mutenha was appointed by Joseph Made, citing pressure and the need for a substantive head at GMB.
