Arrest for Drug Possession

In a shocking turn of events, M’diwa Chanetsa and a male companion found themselves facing charges related to the possession of a dangerous drug. The arrest, orchestrated by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Drugs, unfolded following a tip-off.

On February 22, 2024, CID Drugs received information about alleged drug possession by M’diwa and her male friend at a residence in Avonlea, Harare. Acting swiftly, detectives conducted a search that led to the discovery of a sachet containing methylenedioxymethamphetamine, commonly known as ecstasy, hidden beneath a sofa in the dining room. The substance, weighing approximately 1.30 grams, held an estimated street value of ZW$195,000. The confiscated material was meticulously documented for legal proceedings.

Temba Mliswa, M’diwa’s father, publicly extended his support to the Zimbabwe Republic Police in the aftermath of his daughter’s arrest. Despite recognizing M’diwa’s academic achievements, Mliswa acknowledged her defiance of the guidelines set for his other children. He advocated for stricter penalties against drug dealers, even within political circles, emphasizing the severe consequences of drug use on society. Mliswa’s plea for more stringent consequences, especially for politicians involved in drug trafficking, stemmed from his concern about the potential harm they could inflict.

Mliswa likened drug peddling to attempted murder, underscoring the lethal nature of drug use. His appeal for harsher penalties, particularly for politicians engaged in drug activities, echoed his commitment to combating the devastating impact of drugs on the community.
