This is the biography of Martin Mapisa, a Zimbabwean football player who plays as a goalkeeper for Dynamos in the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League.

Age

Martin Mapisa, the talented Zimbabwean goalkeeper, was brought into this world on May 25, 1998.

Club Career

Mapisa’s journey in football began under the tutelage of the Aces Youth Soccer Academy. Making significant strides, he joined the academy in 2018.

In 2020, Mapisa ventured into the Spanish football scene, signing with Zamora CF, a Tercera División outfit. This move marked a crucial chapter in his career, showcasing his prowess as a goalkeeper. Prior to his Zamora CF stint, he plied his trade with Vélez CF, demonstrating remarkable talent at every turn.

Returning to home soil, in March 2024, Mapisa embraced a new challenge by joining Dynamos Football Club. This transition signified a pivotal moment in his career, stepping into the shoes of Taimon Mvula.

Challenges Faced

Despite his talent, Mapisa faced adversity during his time in Spain. In April 2022, during a heated match against CD Palencia Cristo Atletico, he encountered appalling racist abuse from opposing fans. Terms like “monkey” and “macaque” were hurled at him, staining the spirit of the game.

However, amidst this darkness, there was a glimmer of hope. Match officials swiftly intervened, condemning such behavior through the stadium’s public address system. Additionally, Palencia Cristo Atletico extended a formal apology to Mapisa, acknowledging the gravity of the situation.

International Journey

Beyond the club scene, Mapisa’s journey extends to international arenas. He proudly donned the gloves for the Zimbabwe Under-23 side, showcasing his talent on a broader stage.

His senior debut for the Zimbabwe national football team came on March 29, 2021, in a gripping encounter against Zambia during the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier. Furthermore, he played a vital role in the Warriors squad during the intense World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Nigeria in November 2023.
