Learnmore Jonasi, originally born Learnmore Mwenyeyeka on August 22, 1993, entered the world at Dangamvura Hospital in Mutare, Manicaland, Zimbabwe. Raised by his grandparents, Partson and Lillian Mwanyenyeka in Chimanimani, Learnmore’s mother, Memory Mwanyenyeka, worked as a Kindergarten teacher in South Africa.

His educational journey took him from Chimanimani Primary School to Sheni Primary School in Mutare, eventually completing his O level at Chimanimani High School in 2010.

Embarking on a Comedy Career

Following the completion of his O level in 2010, Learnmore set out to Harare to pursue his passion for comedy. Despite facing initial challenges and a lack of support, he persevered. In 2012, he made his debut at the Simuka Comedy Night in Harare, marking the beginning of his comedic journey.

Despite initial setbacks, Learnmore continued honing his craft, gaining recognition at Umahlekisa comedy club in Bulawayo. His unique style, filled with village jokes, earned him the affectionate title of “The Village Boy from Chimanimani.”

Learnmore’s international breakthrough came in 2014 when he toured South Africa and performed at The Box Comedy Club in Johannesburg. He later showcased his talent in the United Kingdom at the African Comedy Festival.

His dedication and continuous improvement were evident when he attended a course with Laughing Horse in the United Kingdom to refine his skills.

Rising Star and Achievements

Learnmore Jonasi’s success skyrocketed in February 2020 when he won the National Arts Merit Awards for Outstanding Comedian of the Year and the Savanna Comic Choice Awards as the Pan African Comic of the Year. His global recognition continued as a finalist in Steve Harvey’s Stand Up Spotlight competition in the United States.

In April 2020, he emerged victorious in the same competition, earning a cash prize of US$10k and an opportunity to perform at The Comedy Cellar in New York City. This marked the beginning of his collaborations with renowned comedians like Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish.

Learnmore’s international performances extended to prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, Glastonbury Festival, and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, solidifying his status as a global comedy sensation.

Personal Life

Currently based in the United States, Learnmore Jonasi remains dedicated to his career as a comedian. He maintains a private personal life, choosing not to disclose details about past relationships. Despite his busy schedule, he stays connected with his family in Zimbabwe and South Africa, cherishing moments spent with friends and fellow comedians.
