Knowledge Musona entered this world on 21 June 1990 in Norton, Mashonaland West, Zimbabwe. His educational journey took place at Lord Malvern High School in Harare. Interestingly, his younger brother, Walter Musona, has also followed in his footsteps and is currently a professional footballer with FC Platinum.

Knowledge Musona Club Career

Musona embarked on his football odyssey at Manyame Football Club and later joined Haka United. A pivotal moment in his development occurred when he became part of the Aces Youth Soccer Academy, renowned for nurturing some of the nation’s finest football talents.

In 2009, he made a significant move to South Africa, joining Kaizer Chiefs, where his prolific scoring ability shone with 19 goals in 49 league appearances. This caught the attention of European clubs, leading to a transfer to German side 1899 Hoffenheim in 2011.

His journey continued through various clubs, including Oostende and Anderlecht in Belgium, before heading to Saudi Arabia in 2021 to represent Al-Tai FC. Musona’s versatile skills were evident as he contributed with both goals and assists during his time with Al Tai, playing mainly as a midfielder.

Musona debuted for the Zimbabwe national team in a friendly against South Africa in 2010. His leadership qualities saw him become the Warriors’ captain in 2017, guiding them to qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations. Scoring two goals in four matches, Musona’s international tally reached 24 goals in 51 appearances, solidifying his place as the third-highest scorer for Zimbabwe.

However, in 2022, Musona announced his retirement from international football, citing personal reasons and a desire to focus on his club career. Expressing gratitude to teammates, coaches, fans, and the Zimbabwe Football Association, he bid farewell to the international stage.

Knowledge Musona Personal Life

Off the field, Musona is happily married to Daisy Rutendo Takundwa; their union was celebrated on 28 May 2016. Beyond his family life, Musona is actively involved in charitable endeavours, generously donating football kits and equipment to schools and clubs across Zimbabwe.

Notwithstanding his success, Musona faced controversy during his time in Belgium. In 2016, he admitted to placing bets on matches he participated in, a breach of regulations with potential match-fixing implications. Despite facing the prospect of a fine, no criminal charges were filed against him. In 2018, he was again caught up in a match-fixing investigation involving Belgian clubs and agents, but Musona remained untainted, maintaining his innocence.
