Fortune Chasi was born on 5 February 1965 in Mazowe, Mashonaland Central Province, Zimbabwe. His educational journey began at Kanyemba Primary School, followed by Mpopoma High School. Later, he pursued a degree in law at the University of Zimbabwe, marking the foundation of his academic endeavours.
Chasi holds the position of a senior partner at Chasi, Mlotshwa & Co. Law Firm, based in Harare. Beyond his legal expertise, he is also a musician with a portfolio of released songs showcasing his diverse talents.
Fortune Chasi’s Political Journey
Aligning with the Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front (ZANU PF) party, Chasi secured his place as an elected Member of Parliament for Mazowe South Constituency in 2013. President Robert Mugabe appointed him as the Deputy Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs in September 2013.
Transitioning into the role of Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development under President Emmerson Mnangagwa in August 2018, Chasi continued to climb the political ladder. In May 2019, he assumed the critical position of Minister of Energy and Power Development, tasked with addressing power shortages and implementing reforms in the energy sector.
However, his tenure was cut short in August 2020 when he was relieved of his duties amid reported clashes with the Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) board over corruption and mismanagement issues.

Outside the realm of politics and law, Fortune Chasi is a family man, preferring to keep his personal affairs private. Despite facing challenges, including his dismissal from the Cabinet, Chasi maintained public visibility.
