Fadzayi Mahere Biography | Age, Education, Political Journey
Age and Early Life

Growing up in the suburbs of the city, she was raised in a nurturing environment during the post-independence era of Zimbabwe. Her parents, a nurse and a teacher, provided her with a comfortable middle-class upbringing, allowing her to attend reputable schools and reside in secure neighbourhoods.
Being the second of four siblings and the eldest daughter, Mahere quickly recognized the uneven distribution of household responsibilities based on gender. This realization fueled her passion for human rights and the rule of law from an early age. By the time she was 14, she had already set her sights on becoming a lawyer.
Education and Career
Mahere pursued her higher education at the University of Zimbabwe, earning a Bachelor of Law Honours degree in 2008. She furthered her academic journey by obtaining a Master of Laws degree in International Criminal Law and international Commercial Litigation from the University of Cambridge in 2011.
Upon her return to Zimbabwe in 2011, Mahere established her own legal practice. Her legal acumen and commitment to justice led her to participate in various significant endeavours, including a public inquiry on the introduction of bond notes in Zimbabwe. In 2016, she also became associated with the #thisflagmovement, harnessing the power of social media to rally citizens against the government.
