Ezra Tshisa Sibanda, a renowned broadcast journalist, made his mark at Radio Zimbabwe, formerly known as Radio 2, before making the United Kingdom his home in the early 2000s.

Born on September 21, Ezra Tshisa Sibanda continues to inspire with his contributions in various fields.

Children

As a parent to twin children, Ashton Mcebisi, and Ashyleen Zinhle Sibanda, he balances his professional and personal life with grace.

Career

Sibanda’s illustrious career at the state-owned broadcaster, spanning from the 1990s to the early 2000s, showcased his talent in hosting popular shows like Ezemuli, Ngisakhumbula, and Abancane Qha on Radio 2, now Radio Zimbabwe. He also co-hosted Mutinhimhira Wemimhanzi/Ezomgido with Eric Knight and served as a football radio commentator. His journey led him to relocate to the United Kingdom in 2001, where he continues to promote Zimbabwean music globally through Icons of Africa, a Music Promotions Company facilitating performances by artists from Zimbabwe and Africa in the UK.

Political Career

In May 2013, Ezra Tshisa Sibanda won the MDC-T Primary election to represent the party in Vungu constituency. Despite winning, he faced unfounded allegations of collaboration with MI6, which he vehemently denied.

Football

Sibanda, serving as one of five accredited intermediaries or player agents with the Zimbabwe Football Association in 2016, is also a dedicated life member of the Highlanders Football Club. He actively participates in fundraising efforts for the club.

Philanthropic Endeavours

Collaborating with the Zimbabwe Diaspora Focus Group (ZDFG), Sibanda assists Zimbabweans in the UK with legal residency while fostering investments and development between the UK and Zimbabwe.

Ezra Sibanda Initiative

The Ezra Tshisa Initiative, established by Sibanda, focuses on education and supporting disadvantaged individuals in Zimbabwe. His contributions to fundraising efforts for hospitals in Bulawayo during the COVID-19 pandemic and sponsorship of the education of orphaned children, with several graduating from the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) by 2020, showcase his commitment to positive change.
