Background
Dj Levels, also known as Rodger Tafadzwa Kadzimwe, is a prominent Zimbabwean music producer and songwriter. Born on September 9, 1989, in Murewa, he has carved a significant niche for himself in the Zimbabwean music industry.
Education
Dj Levels underwent his educational journey through various institutions in Harare. He started his primary education at Avonlea Primary School before transitioning to Ellis Robins High School for secondary education. His academic path took several turns, leading him to George Stark High School in Mbare and then to Sodbury High School in Darwendale, where he completed his studies from Form 2 to Form 4.
Career Beginnings
Levels’ musical journey commenced at an early age within the Evangelical Fellowship of Believers Church, where his exceptional singing and keyboard talents were showcased. He embarked on his professional music career by collaborating with S.E.P.P Records. Eventually, he co-founded his record label, Chill Spot Records, alongside DJ Fantan (Arnold Kamudyariwa) and DJ Ribhe (Tafadzwa Mandaza).
Chill Spot Records has been a driving force behind popularizing the Zimdancehall genre, propelling Dj Levels into the spotlight.
Career Highlights and Awards
As a prolific producer, Dj Levels has collaborated with notable Zimbabwean artists, including Enzo Ishall, Gemma Griffiths, Killer T, Tocky Vibes, and Soul Jah Love. His exceptional skills earned him the reputation of one of the finest Zimdancehall producers. Notably, in 2013, he clinched a Zimdancehall Award for the best Riddim, “Zimbo Flavour.”
Marriage and Relationships
Dj Levels was previously married to Dev Sando, with whom he shares a son. While limited information is available about their relationship, reports indicate that they have since separated.
In recent times, Dj Levels made headlines due to his romantic involvement with Shashl, the daughter of former Health Minister Obadiah Moyo. The speculation about their relationship persisted until it was confirmed following the leakage of a controversial video on social media.
Arrest
In 2020, Dj Levels, along with his associates Dj Fantan and Dj Ribhe, faced legal repercussions for violating Covid-19 regulations. Their involvement in hosting a New Year’s Eve party in Mbare led to their arrest.
Furthermore, in 2022, Dj Levels faced another arrest after being accused of rape by his former partner, Shashl.
