Bulawayo Man Assaults Girlfriend Over Infidelity, Torches Her Father’s Car
A 24-YEAR-OLD Bulawayo man assaulted his girlfriend before torching her father’s car after discovering she was cheating on him.
Khosikhona Khumalo pleaded guilty to two charges of arson and assault when he appeared before Western Commonage Courts resident magistrate Shepherd Mnjanja.
Initially, he was sentenced to 30 months in prison before six months were suspended on condition of good behavior for three years. Another four months were suspended on the condition that he return to the plaintiff US$1 533 in compensation for the damaged property.
He will serve an effective 20 months in prison.
B-Metro reports that Khumalo accused his 15-year-old girlfriend of cheating on him on October 17, 2022, according to the court. This was when he discovered love notes on her phone that she had been sending to her other boyfriend.
He then grabbed her by the throat and slapped and kicked her all over her body. The minor managed to free herself and fled.
The daring Khumalo gave chase but he couldn’t catch up with her.
It was the State’s case that Khumalo made a U-turn and went to a nearby service station and bought petrol which he poured on his lover’s father’s car before setting it alight.
