Audius Mtawarira, a renowned Zimbabwean artist, was born on January 1, 1977, in Chimbumu, Guruve District. Raised in a family with a deep appreciation for music, Audius’s journey began at Ruzawi School, a distinguished Anglican boarding school. He later excelled at Peterhouse Boys’ School, showcasing his musical talents and athletic prowess.

After completing his secondary education, Audius continued to pursue his passion for music at Gateway High School in Harare. In 1996, he embarked on a journey to Edith Cowan University in Perth, Australia, where he later completed his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Graphic Design at Curtin University.

Music Career

Audius Mtawarira’s musical journey took off during his high school years. His exceptional talents as a singer, songwriter, and producer became evident while at Peterhouse Boys School. In 2002, he made a significant mark with the release of his debut album, ‘Audius’, which included the chart-topping hit ‘If Only You Knew’.

His prowess as a songwriter and producer earned him international recognition, with his compositions being performed by renowned artists worldwide. Notably, Audius’s impact on the music industry extended beyond his own projects, as he played a pivotal role in producing albums for various acclaimed artists.

Record Label and Contributions

Dedicated to nurturing talent, Audius established The Sound Academy Studios and founded the record label Blindfaith Entertainment. Through these platforms, he mentored aspiring artists, kickstarting the careers of notable talents such as Iggy Azalea, Justice Crew, Anise K, and more.

Creative Ventures

In addition to his musical endeavours, Audius delved into the world of fashion, launching his own label, Shona Clothing, in 2008. This venture drew inspiration from his Zimbabwean heritage, showcasing his multifaceted creativity.

Albums and Awards

Throughout his illustrious career, Audius Mtawarira has released several acclaimed albums, each showcasing his evolving artistry. His notable works include ‘Audius’, ‘Ever After’, ‘Music and Me’, ‘Day Like This’, ‘House of Stones’, ‘Predestination, and ‘2020’.

His contributions to the music industry have been recognized with prestigious awards, including the Best Urban Grooves award at the Zimbabwe Music Awards in 2003 and the “Best R&B Urban Album” award for ‘House of Stones’ in 2014.
