Actor and bodybuilding legend Arnold Schwarzenegger will not have the fondest memories of his trip to South Africa, after he was fly-kicked by a member of the public at the Sandton Convention Centre on Saturday.
“The Terminator” is in the country for the Arnold Classic Africa Festival, an annual multi-sport event held in six continents.
During the Johannesburg leg, the entertainer had an encounter reminiscent of some of his fight scenes, as a fan rushed towards him.
In a video shared on social media, Schwarzenegger can be seen signing a few autographs before standing up to get closer to his adoring fans.
Soon after, a man can be seen approaching in the background before disappearing of shot. He later appears executing a perfect fly kick on the 71-year-old’s back, rendering him off balance before security swarms around him.
The incident seems to not have fazed Schwarzenegger much, as he is later seen taking his seat, looking rather amused by what had just happened.
The director of Arnold Partner for Africa Wayne Price confirmed, as quoted by EWN, that the former Governor of California escaped the incident unharmed.
“It was all dealt with immediately by the security team, the on-site security and also the police that was also on site. There was no problem. Arnold was not injured at all, as you can see in the video he is smiling later.
Thanks for your concerns, but there is nothing to worry about. I thought I was just jostled by the crowd, which happens a lot. I only realized I was kicked when I saw the video like all of you. I’m just glad the idiot didn’t interrupt my Snapchat.
